Student Clinic

Onsite Teaching Clinic for students of the BSc Hons Acupuncture Degree course

For students attending our Acupuncture College (BSc Hons Acupuncture Degree Programme), the ICOM Acupuncture Clinic serves as a Teaching Clinic – providing superb opportunities for students to observe experienced acupuncturists at work and to learn, through direct experience, the practice of acupuncture under the close supervision of experienced Registered Acupuncturists.

Student Clinic

Year 1 – Observation

From the very beginning of the course, students observe practitioners at work, gaining valuable experience in the many varied diagnostic skills in traditional Chinese medicine, i.e. pulse taking, tongue diagnosis, body diagnosis, interviewing, listening etc.

Year 2 – Practical Clinic

During the second year of the course, students start treating patients in groups in the Student Clinic. The small groups enable each student to put the diagnostic skills taught into practice and to gradually take on more responsibility for the treatment of a patient, all within a supportive peer group.

Year 3 – Supervised Clinic, Trainee Clinic

The final part of Year 3 is similar to an internship, giving our students the opportunity to treat patients independently within the safe environment of the college clinic with experienced practitioners on hand to advise if needed.

There’s no need for students to find their own patients. The Clinic Staff make all the arrangements for you.
