At ICOM some truly inspirational acupuncture practitioners and lecturers help students in their professional development.

Our current faculty

Penny Kharroubi, Joint Principal, is responsible for the business and strategic development of the college and curriculum, with particular responsibility for teaching and learning strategies, reflective practice, assessment policy and student support.  Penny has a BA Hons in Education and Contemporary French Studies and joined ICOM in 2005.  She is a qualified teacher with a business background, having also spent 14 years managing a Treasury department in a City merchant bank.  Penny teaches the Study Skills course in Year 1 and is Company Secretary to the Board of Governors.

Craig Minto is Joint Principal and Director of Clinic at ICOM. He is currently Chair of CHAC (Council for Heads of Acupuncture Courses) and their representative on the British Acupuncture Council Executive Committee. Craig has overall responsibility for the ICOM teaching clinic. Also a Reiki Master, Craig has been practicing acupuncture for more than 10 years and runs his own busy private practice in Kent. A PG Cert Ed qualified teacher, he lectures in Chinese Medicine courses across the year groups and also teaches on Personal and Professional Development days. In addition, Craig is a Clinic Supervisor to students in Years 2 and 3

Judy Bowen-Jones graduated from ICOM in 2008. She now runs a busy acupuncture clinic from her home in East Sussex. She has a BSc in Biological Sciences from Birmingham University and an MSc in Parasitology & Immunology from McGill. She has extensive work experience in healthcare marketing and management and as a consultant to small businesses. She teaches Practice Management and sits on the Board of Governors at ICOM.

Trevor Campbell , Course Co-ordinator for Western Medicine, has a passion for physiology. He has a BSc in Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry from London University which took him into work in the NHS and pharmaceutical industry. Subsequently he trained as a Sports Massage Therapist and qualified with a BSc in Osteopathy. He now lectures internationally on Pain and Substance Misuse, and teaches at the London School of Osteopathy as well as at ICOM.

Francesca Diebschlag graduated from ICOM in 1988. She also has qualifications in Chinese Herbal Medicine, Complementary Health Studies, Psychotherapy, The Hakomi Method and Psychology. She is an expert in the Yi Jing (i ching). She practices acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Psychotherapy at her own private practice in West Sussex. She teaches ICOM students about the Therapeutic Relationship.

Galit Hughes has more than 17 years experience in acupuncture. Having graduated from ICOM in 1993, she taught Chinese Medicine in Israel. She now teaches and practices in the ICOM Teaching Clinic. She and her husband Rob (opposite [or below] ) own two successful natural therapy centres in Sussex. Galit has a particular interest in acupuncture for fertility.

Rob Hughes is Course Co-ordinator for Chinese Medicine 2. He is an active member of the Executive Committee (EC) of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), an EC Representative on the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) and BAcC Regional Group coordinator. He has almost 20 years experience in practising and teaching acupuncture.

Tom Ings teaches Point Location to Year 1 students. He has a BA in Geography, Environmental and Development Studies. He graduated top of his class at ICOM in 2007. He now practices acupuncture at two multi-disciplinary clinics.

Anna Konkourovich has been practicing acupuncture for more than 20 years and teaching ICOM students for nearly as long. She is also trained in nutrition and diet, allergy testing, meditation and qi gong. She has a BA from Jerusalem. Anna is a Clinic Supervisor and practices in the Teaching Clinic at ICOM and at her home in Sussex.

Dr Jane Lowrie is a practicing osteopath. She also has a BSc in Human Biology & Anatomy, a PhD in Biomedical Science and an MBA from London Business School. She has worked in pharmaceutical marketing and as a research scientist. She now practices osteopathy and reflexology at her private practice in Surrey. Jane is Course Co-ordinator and lecturer for Study Skills and Research 1, 2 and 3.

Sarah Major graduated from ICOM in 1995. She also has a Diploma in Chinese Patent Herbal Remedies. She is particularly interested in Women’s Health: fertility, hormones, obstetrics and gynaecology. She is Course Co-ordinator for Point Location 1, Lecturer for Applied Chinese Medicine II and a Clinic Supervisor.

Sam Patel has been practising and teaching acupuncture at ICOM for more than 13 years. He sits on the British Acupuncture Council Paediatric Policy Group, undertakes site visits for the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) and is an external examiner for LIFEA. He runs his own private practice in Surrey. He is Course Co-ordinator for Practical Clinic I and II, a Clinic Supervisor and lecturer for Chinese Medicine 1, 2 and 3.

Ninette Sapir graduated from ICOM in 1990. Since then she has been practising acupuncture in private practices in Sussex & Surrey. From 1999-2002 she conducted research into the Applications of Stems & Branches. She is Course Co-ordinator and Lecturer for Chinese Medicine 3, including Stems & Branches. She is BAcC Regional Co-ordinator for Ashdown Forest and West Sussex.

Jinal Shah practices and teaches acupuncture in the ICOM Teaching Clinic as well as running his own private acupuncture and bodywork practice in London. He has also worked in an NHS clinic and is interested in meditation. He is Course Co-ordinator and lecturer for Applied Chinese Medicine I and II.

Tony Todd runs two successful acupuncture practices in Surrey. He graduated from ICOM in 2000. He has a special interest in Keiraku Chiryou (Japanese 5 Phase Meridian Therapy), Manaka systems, Kanpo and moxibustion. He is Course Co-ordinator/lecturer for Chinese Medicine 1 and Lecturer for Applied Chinese Medicine II.

Deborah Woolf teaches Chinese Medicine 2 and 3 (including Stems & Branches), Pulse Diagnosis and is a Clinic Supervisor. Prior to graduating from ICOM in 2000, her background was in teaching. She has a special interest in women and children’s health and mental and emotional health. She is a keen student of the classical works of Elizabeth Rochat de la Vallee. Deborah has been lecturing in Chinese Medicine at ICOM for more than 10 years. She now co-runs and practices at a multi-bed acupuncture clinic and multi-disciplinary complementary medicine practice in Brighton.

Keith Wright is particularly interested in the energetics of acupuncture. He has a BSc in Mathematics from the University of London. Also a healer, he has been practising and teaching acupuncture for nearly 20 years. He runs a private practice from his home in Sussex. Keith is Course Co-ordinator and lecturer for Point Location 2 and a Clinic Supervisor.
