The College stands in its own beautiful grounds, surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and lawns, both to the front and rear of the building. This setting provides a peaceful atmosphere conducive to the study and assimilation of the course material.
Within the grounds there is ample parking for those students travelling by car.
Reasonably priced bed and breakfast or hotel rooms are available in and around East Grinstead, and the College is always pleased to provide students with information concerning these matters. Some students find it more economical to get together and share a house, whereas other students base themselves in Brighton (or occasionally London) and travel the 30 miles or so by car or rail.
Beautiful countryside is just a few minutes drive from the College, for example, Forest Row, and the wonderful Ashdown Forest, the setting for A. A. Milne's 'Winnie The Pooh'.
The College is fortunate to have comprehensive facilities all under one roof.
Lecture Rooms
The College has a number of rooms which are used by students, allowing for a maximum of 25 students per class. There are also rooms dedicated to practical use such as point location and
practical clinic learning
.
The Student common room
This is an annex to the main building and comprises a common room, a kitchen and cloakroom facilities. Students also have access to their own private lockers. This complex is for the exclusive use of students. In the summer students can enjoy and relax in the extensive grounds.
The Library
The College Library is situated on the top floor of the building in a newly refurbished room adjacent to the IT Room. A dedicated Librarian oversees the Library. The stock comprises books, journals, past dissertations theses, videos and audio-cassettes. Most items may be borrowed, although a few are limited to Library use only (reference texts).
Items not available in the Library may be requested from the British Library Document Supply Centre. Reading lists are issued at the beginning of each academic year and our Librarian is able to source new texts at a discount for students.
IT Room
The IT Room, adjacent to the Library on the top floor, allows students to research, study and prepare projects and homework. We have installed new higher spec computers, with flat screens as well as new furniture. Consequently students are making great use of the room.
The Student office
Located at the back of the College, this room is a hive of activity dealing with all general external enquiries as well as acting as a focal point for students requiring assistance.
The Teaching Clinic
This is a very important benefit to students, enriching their clinical practice and experience right from the beginning of the course, and is highly valued. It is located on the ground floor giving easy access for disabled patients. It comprises a main reception and waiting room and five treatment rooms, one of which still retains the original oak beams and panelling. This very busy teaching clinic is visited by patients, not only from the local vicinity, but also from further afield as well as from abroad; the clinic being located near Gatwick Airport is a positive advantage.
